How Shipping Costs Are Calculated

We work with multiple delivery providers across Australia, including courier companies, furniture freight carriers and national transport networks.

Our website checks available shipping options through different carrier systems and displays the lowest available delivery quote for your order.

Because different products may require different transport methods, shipping costs can vary depending on the items ordered, even when the delivery address is the same.


Small Items & Courier Delivery

Some smaller or compact-packed items may qualify for courier delivery.

Courier delivery can often be cheaper than furniture freight, especially for small-volume or compressed-pack products.

For example, some compressed sofas may be suitable for courier delivery because they are packed into a compact carton and can be handled through standard courier networks. However, a regular sofa, dining table, dining set, or multiple large furniture items may require furniture freight services instead.

Because courier eligibility depends on product size, weight, packaging dimensions and carrier requirements, different products delivered to the same address may receive different shipping quotes.

This does not mean customers are being charged per item. It means our system is selecting the most suitable and economical delivery method available for that particular order.


Large Furniture Orders & Melbourne Metro Flat-Rate Guide

Larger furniture orders in nearby areas, mainly Melbourne metro, are usually delivered by third-party furniture freight trucks.

As a general guide, our Melbourne metro flat-rate delivery is approximately:

• $80 including the first 10km from our Distribution Centre

• $3 per additional kilometre after the first 10km

This Melbourne metro flat-rate guide is an approximate guide only.

The actual delivery charge may vary depending on:

• Route selected by the transport provider

• Distance calculation

• Product size and weight

• Vehicle requirements

• Handling requirements

• Access conditions

• Carrier pricing updates

Online Orders & Delivery Quotations

Delivery quotations may vary depending on the ordering method and delivery options available at the time.

Orders placed through our website are quoted automatically using available carrier systems and shipping provider APIs.

Orders placed in-store may occasionally receive a different quotation where alternative delivery arrangements, promotional offers, consolidated deliveries or manually approved delivery options are available.

As a result, online and in-store delivery quotations may not always be identical.

For online orders, the delivery quotation displayed and accepted at checkout will apply.

For in-store purchases, the delivery quotation confirmed by the store at the time of purchase will apply.

Any delivery estimate provided by our staff is indicative only and should not be relied upon as a final quotation unless confirmed as part of an order.


Standard Door-to-Door Delivery Service

Our standard delivery service is a door-to-door delivery service.

This means your order will be delivered to the delivery address, but does not include:

• Carrying furniture upstairs or downstairs

• Moving furniture through difficult or restricted access areas

• Positioning furniture inside rooms

• Relocating existing furniture

• Furniture assembly

• Removal of packaging materials

• Any specialised move-in service

Most deliveries are performed by third-party freight providers whose services are generally limited to standard door-to-door delivery.

Delivery personnel may, at their sole discretion, provide limited assistance beyond the delivery point where practical and safe to do so. However, such assistance is not included in the delivery service purchased and cannot be guaranteed.


Optional Move-In Service

Customers who require furniture to be carried inside the property, upstairs, positioned in specific rooms, or otherwise moved beyond standard door-to-door delivery may request a Move-In Service.

Move-In Services:

• Are subject to availability

• May incur additional charges

• May require delivery on a specific date

• Are subject to access and safety assessments

• Cannot be guaranteed until approved by ifurniture

Because move-in services involve additional risks to furniture, property, common areas and delivery personnel, customers may be required to sign a Move-In Service Agreement & Customer Acknowledgement prior to delivery.

This agreement outlines the responsibilities of both parties and includes important information regarding access requirements, liability, property conditions, photographic evidence, safety assessments and risk acknowledgements.

If a Move-In Service Agreement is required and the customer declines to sign it, ifurniture reserves the right to provide standard door-to-door delivery only.

For safety and insurance reasons, our delivery team reserves the right to refuse or discontinue any move-in service if access conditions are considered unsafe, unsuitable or beyond the reasonable capability of the delivery team.


Alternative Option

Customers requiring specialised indoor delivery or furniture relocation may wish to engage their own professional removalist.

In many cases, this can provide greater flexibility for complex access situations, apartment deliveries and upstairs carrying.

ifurniture is not responsible for services provided by third-party moving companies.


Long-Haul, Regional & Interstate Delivery

Long-haul, regional and interstate deliveries are handled by national freight providers.

For these deliveries, the Melbourne metro flat-rate guide does not apply.

Shipping costs may vary depending on:

• Delivery location

• Product size and weight

• Number of items

• Freight volume

• Transport network requirements

• Carrier availability

These charges can vary significantly depending on the order and destination.


Rural & Out-of-Town Delivery

Deliveries to rural, regional or out-of-town addresses may sometimes be expensive.

This is because sending a truck to a remote or low-volume area can involve high transport costs.

Where practical, customers may consider using a metropolitan or town delivery address and arranging their own collection from there.

In many cases, this may help reduce the delivery cost.


How To Get An Accurate Shipping Quote

The easiest way to get an accurate delivery quote is:

  1. Add the products you want to the shopping cart.

  2. Enter your delivery address.

  3. Proceed through checkout.

You do not need to make payment to view the shipping quote.

Our website will automatically compare available shipping options through different carrier systems and display the lowest available delivery quote for your order.


Online Order Delivery Charges

For online orders, delivery charges are calculated automatically by our shipping quotation system based on the products ordered, delivery address and available transport options at the time of ordering.

Store staff are unable to manually adjust, override or provide alternative delivery quotations for online orders.

Because delivery charges may vary depending on the products selected, quantities ordered, packaging dimensions and available transport providers, customers are encouraged to obtain delivery quotations directly through the website checkout process.

The delivery charge displayed and accepted at the time the online order is placed will be the applicable delivery charge for that order.
